We started our Kitsap photography business, Sparrow Portraits, back in 1988 when our sons were in preschool. I was taking photos at the JC Penney portrait studio at the time and we thought it might be fun to take the equipment from the store into our sons’ preschool. It occurred to us that we might just be able to start up our own business and photograph the preschool on our own. Little did we know that we would be in business 24 years later. Many changes have happened over the years. Our sons are all grown with families of their own and we added a daughter to our family in 1997. One of our sons and our daughter take amazing images of their own.
With the digital age came great change. We’ve changed our way of shooting, but have also kept some of the traditional ideas alive. A family portrait session back in the film days would be one, maybe two rolls of film. That’s 12-24 images! Now a days, it is so much more fun to capture not only the traditional family portrait, but all of the action that is taking place during the shoot. The throwing of the leaves in the air, tossing pebbles in the water, that is the image that is enlarged and hung on the wall.
Thank you for visiting our site. We hope that we can help capture the images of your event.
